| Summary: In Namibia, telecommunications equipment must be approved or exempted from approval before it can be connected to an electronic communication network or sold. However, temporary imports for research or demonstration purposes may be allowed without approval for up to six (6) months, provided the importer obtains authorization from the relevant Authority. |

| Description: 3. (1) Subject to subregulation (2), no person may – (a) connect any equipment to an electronic communication network in Namibia for purposes of electronic communications; or (2) Despite subregulation (1), but subject to subregulation (3), telecommunications equipment does not require type approval if such equipment – (a) is temporarily imported into Namibia; or (3) Telecommunications equipment referred to in subregulation (2) may not be imported into Namibia unless the person seeking to import such equipment into, or use it in, Namibia has obtained the authorisation of the Authority upon application in accordance with regulation 12. |
