Types of Tariff Rebate/Rate Quotas

• SACU Tariff Rebate Quotas (TRQs)
• SADC-EU/EPA Tariff Rate Quotas (TRQs)
• SACUM-UK Tariff Rate Quotas (TRQs)

How to access the TRQs

• Ministry of Agriculture Water and Land Reform (MAWLR) Advertises in local newspapers
• Companies expresses interest in writing
• MAWLR administers and allocates to eligible companies
• MAWLR issues award letters
• Companies then apply for permits (per consignment)

In Practice the following is the procedure

• The applicant should submit company registration documents including a Valid Good Standing certificate and VAT Import number.
• Interested companies must indicate the quantities required for each product.
• Previous utilization will serve as an added advantage in the new allocations.
• New applicants are also encouraged to apply.
• Applicants for the Wheat TRQ must be in possession of a valid milling license from Namibian Agronomic Board

Period of administration

• SADC-EU/EPA TRQs - 01 January- 31 December each year 
• SACU TRQs - 01 October -30 September each year
• SACUM-UK TRQs - 01 January -31 December each year
